GO HOPE  篝火旁
The project is located in Binjiang, Hangzhou, an area surrounded by many internet industry professionals. It’s known for its lively late-night dining atmosphere, with a concentration of similar restaurants, primarily attracting a young consumer base. Being close to the target audience is a big advantage, and the brand needs to establish a connection through both the space and the product offering. This design is actually an update and renovation of the existing space, aiming to strike a balance between breaking away from the old and introducing something new. It’s not about completely overturning previous concepts but continuing and evolving them. The difference between restoring and completely rebuilding lies in the familiarity with the site, while also updating and iterating on the brand's successful pathway. Since we are very familiar with the elements and process of the original space, we made selective preservation choices on the façade, floor, ceiling, and details. We walked through the layout again, reviewing and organizing it, while addressing multiple new needs, such as the wear and tear of the old space, increasing seating capacity, expanding the kitchen, and improving the efficiency of serving from the front to the kitchen. We retained some of the original iconic features, such as the long, arched ceiling, which was inspired by the visual imagery of cars passing through a tunnel. We also wanted to preserve elements of the façade, its proportions, and its familiarity, so that it still resembles the same store. It carries memories of important moments in time and life, and we aim to preserve these parts that shouldn’t be lost. We introduced new design language, using reflected light and indirect lighting to express the warmth of firelight and the gathering around a bonfire. Through dynamic visuals and constructed installations, we merged the old and the new, blending iconic elements to create harmony between them.
